Pommes De Terre Savoyarde
If you love your potatoes creamy and cheesy you will totally love Vincent Price’s Pommes De Terre Savoyarde. This simple recipe appears in our Groucho Marx chapter where it is paired with his German Pot Roast, but you can have it with anything - even on its own.
How to make
Put potatoes in a saucepan with salted boiling water to cover. Bring to the boil and boil for 3 minutes. Drain.
Rub a cut garlic clove around a buttered oval baking dish, about 12-inches long. Put in a layer of half the potatoes, sprinkle with ½ teaspoon salt and some freshly ground pepper. Sprinkle with half the cheese and cover with the remaining potatoes.
Pour the cream over and sprinkle over the rest of the cheese. Bring to a boil over directed heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Finish by putting under the broiler/grill for 2 or 3 minutes or until browned.
8 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
2 cups light cream
Butter for greasing dish
2 cups shredded/grated cheese
