Introduction
Oliver and Sabine in Germany did us proud honouring the chapter on Basil Rathbone and The Comedy of Terrors by cooking up the paired recipes that feature in Supper with the Stars: Basil Rathbone’s India Curry and Vincent Price’s Baked Saffron Rice. Here's Vincent's dish.

How to make
Preheat oven to 400℉.
Melt the butter in a heavy casserole dish that has a lid. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes, or until the onion is soft. Add the rice and stir until it is well-coated with butter.
Add saffron and the water it has been soaking in, and bring to a boil. Cover tightly and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove cover and stir to mix thoroughly.
Add 2 cups of boiling water, cover and continue to bake for 15 minutes.
Turn off the heat, fluff rice with 2 forks, and keep warm until ready to serve.
Ingredients
½ teaspoon saffron, soaked in 1 cup of cold water for about 2 hours
